You can generate a fire spread animation for weather streams when viewing an ignition in a completed Impact Analysis run (or Fire behaviour run for Modelled Impact Time projects). The Fire Spread is a cell-based animation showing which cells are affected by burns and embers.
From your project, click on a scenario’s expand arrow to see its runs.
Find the Impact Analysis run you want to view, and click Open run.
On the run side navigation, under outputs, click Geospatial.
Turn on the Ignitions & Fire Spread toggle to view ignition points on the map.
Hover over an ignition point to view the fire ID.
Click on the ignition point to view the generation popup.
The generation popup will tell you whether a fire spread has already been generated.
If the popup says Ready to be generated, click Generate Fire Spread.
Fire Spread generation time varies depending on the size of your project (anywhere from two minutes to two hours). When your fire spread animation has been generated, you will see a check mark next to the fire ID when you hover over the ignition and see the play bar at the bottom of the map.
Click the ignition to view the play bar, and click the play icon to start the animation.
By default, the animation plays all weather streams from the ignition in a play loop. Alternatively, clicking the dropdown arrow can select a specific weather stream. Click on the Legends icon to understand the fire spread.
If a weather stream in the play bar does not produce an animation, that ignition had no fire spread under that weather scenario.
There are other circumstances where there is no fire spread animation. While this may seem like an error, it is reflective of your selected ignition point not generating any fire spread. This can be due to benign weather streams, immediate disruptions in the landscape, the fuel type, fuel loading or a combination of these that are not conducive to a successful fire run.
