View modelled impact times on the map

Learn how to view and interpret modelled impact times.

Updated over 2 months ago

The Fire Behaviour run produces outputs for each Ignition Point and Weather Stream. It summarises the minimum time it takes for flame and embers from the modelled fires to impact the Asset of Interest polygon.

  1. From your project, click on a scenario’s expand arrow to see its runs.

  2. Find the Impact Analysis run you want to view, and click Open run.

  3. On the run side navigation, under outputs, click Geospatial.

  4. Click on the layers icon (square) in the top right corner of the map to see the outputs.

When you open a run’s geospatial outputs, you will see your Asset of Interest polygon in blue on the map. You can turn this on and off using the toggle. Hover over the Asset of Interest to see its name.

Impact time layers

Under Impact time in Layers, you can find the FDRs for Burnt or Embers, Embers and Burnt. Turn them on one at a time to view the FDRs for each ignition point. You can interact with the data in the following ways:

  • Hover over an ignition point to see its Fire ID and time until impact.

  • Click on an ignition point to get more details.

Using the legend, understand the time that the impact will be on each ignition point. If there is no weather data supplied to the FDR, the ignition is in a displayed state. For each Fire Danger Rating (FDR) category, you can use the Impact Time layer to understand:

  • The minimum hour burnt and spot for each cell

  • The minimum hour overall burnt and sport per fire_id

To find out which cells intersect with the Asset of Interest, see Viewing Fire Spread animation from ignition points.
